B2C e-commerce increases the Christmas in the USA, but low profitability

In the U.S., online sales during the weeks before Christmas have grown significantly over last year. It is estimated that thirty percent. The main products were clothing, computers (especially laptops) and consumer electronics (iPods and other MP3 players, mobile phones, color printers and plasma TV).

So far these data are predictable, because in general, U.S. statistics confirm a trend of steady growth seen in the last three years. But there are two facts that I find interesting include:

- The increase in sales this Christmas will not translate into an increase in the benefit of e-commerce sites, because the great competition between online stores affect margins and profitability of business.

- The price of oil has more expensive logistics and physical distribution of products and consumers have turned to buying online stores do free deliveries.
